… we received an update on Rob Gronkowski’s quest to manage to put one of those prolate spheroids through the uprights on behalf of FanDuel.
Today, the sportsbook released the second video spot for Gronkowski’s “Kick of Destiny,” in which he will attempt to split the uprights during a live commercial spot during the Super Bowl. If he manages to boot it through — clearly, no guarantees on this — any bettor at FanDuel who wagered at least $5 on the Super Bowl will split $10 million in free bets.
In the video, Gronk gets help from his old Patriots teammate, Adam Vinatieri, in an homage to both Rocky Balboa’s and Ivan Drago’s training regimes from Rocky IV.
“Whether it’s kickoff, a touchdown, or an important play that will decide a season, FanDuel knows moments matter. Our first-ever Super Bowl commercial will be more than just a television spot — it will create a moment that will bring fans together and give them something to collectively cheer for,” Andrew Sneyd, FanDuel’s executive vice president of marketing, said in the original press release announcing the gambit. “It’s an unprecedented field goal attempt on live TV, so anything can happen.”
Yes, as Maher found out Monday night, anything — including missing four PATs(!) — can indeed happen.
