As Celtics fanatics — lowercase “f” — file into the TD Garden in Boston Thursday night for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, some of them will have the option of betting with Fanatics — capital “F” — on their phone.

As in Ohio and Tennessee, Fanatics Sportsbook will be rolled out gradually in Massachusetts. The first step is beta testing that is available by invitation only. Eligible customers on the Fanatics apparel mailing list will receive a code providing access to the mobile book. Those who aren’t Fanatics customers but want to try the sportsbook can the app on iOS and Android and the waiting list, a Fanatics spokesperson told Sports Handle.

Previously, Fanatics Betting and Gaming indicated a June target for the Massachusetts launch. But the company went live a few days ahead of schedule, mere hours before a must-win game for the Celtics at home against the Miami Heat. After falling behind three games to zero, the Celtics won Tuesday in Miami to keep alive the possibility of the NBA’s first successful 0-3 series comeback.

Massachusetts legalized sports wagering on Aug. 1, 2022. Retail betting launched on Jan. 31 (in time for the Super Bowl) and online betting followed on March 10 (in time for March Madness).
