Every week, Gamble On listeners hear Poker Hall of Famer Phil Hellmuth’s voice utter the words, “Gamble on, fellas, gamble on,” and they know it’s time for another audio infusion of gambling news, views, interviews, and bankroll blues.

Here’s a taste of what Episode 271 of the leading industry podcast from our friends at US Bets, hosted by Eric Raskin and Jeff Edelstein, had to offer …

Everson: F1 numbers ‘might get fudged’ 1r1e19

Interview guest Patrick Everson, a senior reporter for Vegas Insider, ed the podcast to cover a variety of topics, from attending opening night of U2 at The Sphere (and itting to some light U2-related crime many years back) to assessing where the betting action is heaviest so far on the college football playoff semifinals.

Everson shared his insights and the theories he’s heard on why so many unders are hitting in the NFL this season (57% through Week 13):

“You have got this season, particularly, a whole lot of new offensive coordinators with teams all across the league, and you’ve got a whole lot of … rookies starting over the course of the season. … And some of these rookies are starting under new offensive coordinators too. So you’ve got the double whammy there. And … it’s a lot easier for defenses to make adjustments and deal with those situations than it is for offenses. … You know, new OC and rookie QB is a really difficult one to overcome.”

A major proponent of legalizing political betting, Everson told Raskin and Edelstein, “If you could just bet on the presidential election every four years, [SuperBook Sports’] Jay Kornegay said it would do 15 times the [handle of the] Super Bowl.”

Could election betting really make politics any more corrupt than it already is? @PatrickE_Vegas scoffs at the notion on the latest #GambleOn — and shares a projection on legal presidential election betting volume that will blow your mind: https://t.co/WvMQlHM3Tj pic.twitter.com/jW9HBFnNNP

Everson also shared his feelings about F1 coming to Vegas and causing traffic nightmares and general agita: “It didn’t go over well,” Everson said. “I can’t say I was a fan. But I will reserve judgment until we see the economic impact — although I’m wondering whether those numbers might get fudged a little bit.”

News segment nuggets 3r2z3v

  • The Seminole Tribe said Monday it would be relaunching the relaunched it on Tuesday morning without advance notice. “As a person who likes for things to be organized, who is not a fan of chaos,” Raskin said, “I must say I haven’t enjoyed the Seminoles’ approach to launching a betting app one bit. This has been chaos at every turn for more than two years.”
  • Edelstein says DraftKings — “you’re really gonna have a true apples to apples to apples comparison,” Edelstein said, to indicate whether Fanatics can challenge the leaders nationally.
  • Even though he should be the target audience for the new Max series Bookie, Edelstein found the first two episodes almost unwatchable. “It plays like a farce,” he opined, “but for a farce to work, it’s gotta be, you know, kind of funny.”

Bankroll bets and parting thoughts 4u1m3a

The online streets are teeming with sharp bettors sharing advice that just may help people beat the books. Raskin and Edelstein are also online and like to place wagers.

This week’s notable bankroll bets:

  • Patriots/Rams moneyline underdog parlay, +1206
  • Justin Jefferson over 65.5 receiving yards, -110
  • Same-game parlay: Dak Prescott over 293.5 ing yards, Brandin Cooks TD, CeeDee Lamb 2 TDs, +2060

Raskin’s Bagels & Locks “lock” of the week (6-5 on the season so far): Patriots +6 at Steelers

Edelstein’s Bagels & Locks “lock” of the week (6-5 on the season so far): 49ers -10.5 vs. Seahawks

Edelstein ends every episode with parting thoughts, and this week, he chimed in on the opinion offered this week on CNBC that young men are having less sex because they’re spending their time on their phones betting sports instead.

“Let me speak now to that portion of men out there: Put down your f***ing phone, get out there, and have some f***ing sex, OK? Meet a girl, have some sex, fall in love, get married, have kids, spend every waking hour either working or driving your kids around, and once you do all that, then you go back to not having sex and betting like an idiot.”
