After months of collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing survey data, the B2B sportsbook provider Betsson, in partnership with GambleID and Sports Handle, has issued its daily fantasy sports in America.
The 56-page report, which can be accessed in full by betting apps and 59% bet daily, that group of respondents revealed itself to be, on average, at least a step removed from purely recreational punters.
To that end, odds and experience edged out promotions/bonuses as the top drivers of platform choice, while the potential to win money and a ion for sports trumped entertainment as the main reasons why respondents were motivated to bet.

Among many additional insights, some that jumped out were:
- Improved speed/latency was the runaway feature that mobile bettors would like to see improved, with advanced-data analytics and live streaming a distant second and third, respectively.
- The most popular bet types were over/under.
- Most respondents reported that their monthly deposit was under $100. The median annual deposit was reported at $1,000.
- Overwhelmingly, respondents preferred to bet on football and basketball over any other sport. Golf ranked third as the preferred sport to bet on.
- Most bettors used The Action Network (a sister site of Sports Handle’s) as their primary betting tip tool.
- In of major sporting events, the highest deposits were during the Super Bowl and the lowest during the Stanley Cup Finals.
- Approximately 40% of respondents withdraw some or all of their winnings, while 36% keep their winnings in their for future betting.
- 53% of respondents felt the industry promotes responsible gambling.
