The FanDuel paid out $230,000 to bettors who correctly predicted the winners of those contests.
Only they didn’t have to guess at who the victors would be, as they placed their wagers on April 1 (no joke) after America’s top sports betting market for events that had already happened.
This all occurred in 2022, as the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement finally publicized the fact that FanDuel had agreed to pay a $2,000 civil penalty on June 24.
According to the letter, FanDuel said its data-feed providers failed to let the sportsbook know that the PFL bouts that aired on April Fool’s Day were prerecorded.
FanDuel declined a Sports Handle request for comment.
