Intralot will still technically run online an array of issues ranging from poor experience to subpar odds.
A switch from GambetDC to FanDuel is expected to take place “this spring,” according to OLG. There will be a phased approach to replacing GambetDC kiosks located in small businesses throughout the District with FanDuel kiosks.
“FanDuel’s industry-leading offering will ensure that the District maximizes tax revenue under its existing contracts this year while delivering a best-in-class experience for 18+ residents,” Frank Suarez, executive director of OLG, said in a press release.

Earlier this year, representatives from several betting operators, including Fanatics Sportsbook, spoke to the Washington D.C. Council about the desire to bring a competitive sports betting market to the District. That idea wasn’t strongly ed by the lottery, which instead suggested that a new mobile operator replace GambetDC.
While FanDuel is undoubtedly an improvement over GambetDC for sports bettors in the District, customers won’t have mobile options across most of the District under this new path forward.

OLG anticipates this model will benefit Washington D.C.’s Certified Business Enterprises (CBE), which are often minority-owned local businesses. OLG says the partnership with FanDuel could double the gaming revenue currently being received by the CBEs who are part of the existing sports betting contract.
