Champion said they arrived at the handle by counting wagers made up to 10 days before the game. He did not provide a breakout for the two operators, but he did note that the state received nearly $110,000 in tax receipts. The 10% tax rate Maine levies on revenue implies that the total winnings may be closer to $1.1 million.
Maine bettors have wagered more than $120 million in the first three months since launch, with DraftKings ing for about 80% of that amount. The state has generated $1.4 million in taxes in that span.
