Vermont becomes the final New England state to offer legal sports wagering and the first state in 2024 to launch. The North Carolina online sports betting market will go live in the coming months.
Retail sports betting isn’t permitted in Vermont, and the state’s mobile-only market is home to just three offering an array of promotions and specials to welcome new customers. FanDuel is offering a special “Super Boost” promotion for customers ahead of Thursday’s Celtics-Bucks game.
Vermont’s sports betting market goes live just prior to the start of the NFL playoffs, which begin Saturday afternoon when the Cleveland Browns visit the Houston Texans. The Super Bowl takes place exactly one month after Vermont’s sports betting start date, on Feb. 11.
Vermont bettors will also be able to legally bet on NBA and NHL regular season games, among other events.

Vermont isn’t expected to make a massive impact on sports betting nationwide, as only Wyoming has a smaller population among the U.S. states.
Still, the three betting platforms ing the market continue to expand their national reach by operating in Vermont.
DraftKings is now operational in 26 states across the U.S., including nearby New York. DraftKings announced it will donate $25,000 to the Arbor Day Foundation to “ a large-scale reforestation planning project throughout Vermont.” The project will take place in the spring.
FanDuel’s online sports betting product is now available in 21 states, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York.
While FanDuel and DraftKings dominate U.S. market share and lead comfortably in all-time sports betting revenue, Fanatics Sportsbook is becoming a top competitor in the space. Fanatics Sportsbook’s app is now live in 10 states, including Connecticut and Massachusetts.
DraftKings and Fanatics will share 31% of their revenue with the state in the form of taxes, while FanDuel will share 33% of its revenue.
