The NCAA is enhancing its push for a nationwide ban of college player prop betting, it announced Wednesday.
The organization has already pushed some states in that direction this year, with North Carolina, however, allow for legal college player prop bets.
NCAA President Charlie Baker says the NCAA will increase its lobbying effort throughout the nation beginning this week.
“This week we will be ing officials across the country in states that still allow these bets and ask them to Ohio, Vermont, and Maryland and many others and remove college prop bets from all betting markets,” Baker said in a statement posted to social media.

Baker believes college player prop bets put student-athletes and college sports at risk. He believes there’s a risk of players being harassed if they don’t reach their player props. Some states, including Ohio, have ed sports betting legislation to ban bettors from wagering in their state if they’re caught harassing players, coaches, or officials either at games or online.
Baker also worries game integrity could be threatened if athletes intentionally hit or miss their player props so someone can win a bet on their behalf. Currently, Temple’s men’s basketball team is being looked into for suspicious wagering activity surrounding some of its games.
At the NBA level, news broke earlier this week that mobile sportsbook apps.
“The NCAA is drawing the line on sports betting to protect student-athletes and to protect the integrity of the game – issues across the country these last several days show there is more work to be done,” Baker said.
