The North Carolina Lottery Commission announced two additional mobile betting operator applications on Wednesday, with Catawba Two Kings Casino and Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise Cherokee applying for licenses.Â
It’s anticipated that Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise Cherokee’s application will lead to North Carolina sports betting partner.Â
Outside of those applicants, seven other North Carolina betting apps are expected to go live in North Carolina in the coming months. Those seven apps are:
- bet365 (N.C.)
- BetMGM (N.C.)
- DraftKings (N.C.)
- ESPN BET (N.C.)
- Fanatics Sportsbook (N.C.)
- FanDuel (N.C.)
- Underdog
Of the seven apps, six of them have announced partnerships with professional sports franchises, venues, or leagues to gain access to North Carolina’s mobile market. Underdog is the lone operator yet to announce an official sports betting partner.Â
Operators hoping to go live at the earliest launch date in the state are asked to submit their internal control plans to the lottery commission by Jan. 26.Â

Commissioners didn’t give any details as to when sports betting apps will be allowed to go live in North Carolina at Wednesday’s brief meeting.Â
Recent hints suggest a pre-March Madness launch is coming, as its partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway that alluded to a mobile betting launch in the first quarter of 2024.Â
Still, the commission has yet to share an official start date for legal mobile sports wagering and might not publicly announce dates until late January or early February. The commission’s sports betting committee is scheduled to meet on Jan. 30, and the full commission often meets about a week after that committee.Â
The commission previously said it won’t go live prior to the Super Bowl on Feb. 11. March Madness begins on March 19, and the ACC men’s basketball tournament, which features four teams from North Carolina, begins on March 12. That tourney won’t take place in the Tar Heel State this season, but it’s still an important event to North Carolina sports fans.Â
The Duke-North Carolina regular season finale in Durham is scheduled for March 9.
