North Carolina’s online sports betting market will go live on March 11, and of the state’s lottery commission say operators are on track to launch on that date. However, the eight digital operators expected to go live on March 11 have yet to be officially approved.
“We’ve had several meetings with operators to do a walk-through, get some certifications on their platforms, and other areas, to meet the compliance checklist,” said Sterl Carpenter, the lottery’s deputy executive director of gaming compliance and sports betting.
Carpenter expects the final technical steps needed prior to giving operator approval to continue in the coming days and weeks. Carpenter and commission staff seem confident all approvals will be granted as expected prior to the projected launch date.
Lottery chairman Ripley Rand thanked his team for the tireless work in recent months, suggesting the commissioners have endured two years worth of meetings in the last six months.
