What do Tiger Woods, Lucas Glover, and Christian Bezuidenhout all have in common? Each of the three golfers are +13000 at PGA Tour event, the Genesis Invitational.
And who knows? The trio could all be U.S. Open champions later this summer if Bezuidenhout, who has an incredible back story, wins the first major of his professional golfing career in June.
Until Bezuidenhout becomes an unlikely major winner, however, Woods will continue to dominate headlines among the trio of Genesis Invitational sports betting longshots given his status as a legend of the sport.
Despite the attention surrounding Woods, given his various physical ailments — he’s dealt with leg and back injuries for several years — the fading star will continue to find himself toward the bottom of odds boards until he shows a dramatic change in form. Woods most recently played at the end of 2023 in the Hero World Challenge, finishing 18th in a field of 20.
Genesis betting favorites 144043
Scottie Scheffler (+650 at DraftKings), Rory McIlroy (+900), and Viktor Hovland (+1200) are among the betting favorites for the Genesis Invitational.
Scheffler hasn’t finished outside the top 20 in any of his four PGA Tour starts this season, and he’s finished inside the top 5 twice. He enters this week’s event off of a T3 finish in last week’s Phoenix Open.
Other BetMGM lists Scheffler at +650 and McIlroy at +900, while it has Hovland at +1400 to win and Xander Schauffele at +1600.
Fan favorite Max Homa is +1800 to win the tournament at BetMGM. Homa won the event in 2021 and finished second to Jon Rahm in 2023. Rahm won’t be in the field this week, as he recently left the PGA Tour to LIV Golf.
Woods’ major championship odds 1n6p2u
Scheffler, McIlroy, and Hovland figure to be among the favorites in any event they enter, including this year’s major championships.
When it comes to Woods’ pursuit of Jack Nicklaus’ 18 major championships, that seems all but over at this point in his career. Woods still needs three major victories to tie Nicklaus at 18, and given Woods’ health, it’s unclear how many majors he has left to play.
Still, Woods often finds ways to defy the odds at The Masters. He’s won the tournament four times and has never missed the cut, making it for the record-tying 23rd consecutive time last spring.
Woods finds himself holding +7500 odds (ESPN BET, where he’s +6600 to win.
Oddsmakers give Woods the best chance to contend for majors at The Masters and the Open Championship. He’s +8500 to win the Open Championship at FanDuel compared to +12000 to win the PGA Championship.
As for the U.S. Open odds board, Woods has +13000 odds to win, while the aforementioned Bezuidenhout holds +19000 odds to prevail.
